Microlending with Global Effect
In May 2011, Global Effect began microlending in the Dominican Republic in order to transform communities by creating jobs.
Throughout the years, we have given a variety of loans to people in need. Some of the original loan recipients have paid off their first loan and borrowed money to sustain or expand their business through a second loan. The average loan to start a business is approximately $500 US dollars. Through this program, we are seeing lives changed and communities transformed by giving people the opportunity to work and provide for their families. We believe in the importance of business education. Since most of our microloan recipients have never received any financial training, we provide workshops that teach how to create a budget, manage inventory and record keeping to help ensure the success of their small business. |
Microlending is another way to spell HOPE in an area that is devastated with poverty. If you would like to be a part of this effort, please contact us to find out ways that you can share your talents with those less fortunate or make a financial donation specifically to the economic development efforts in the Dominican Republic.
A $500 donation can start a business and provide a family with food, clothing, and shelter for many years in the future. |
