Global Effect equips impoverished communities in the Dominican Republic to bring sustainable transformation that creates spiritual, economic, social, and educational impact. We are dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty in the lives of those we serve.
Who We Are
Global Effect takes a holistic and integrated approach to missions, in order to create sustainablespiritual, social, physical, and economic transformation in the communities that we serve. Instead of focusing on just one aspect, our goal is to meet the needs of the entire person: body (physical needs), soul (counseling, education) and spirit (discipleship). We reach this through a number of different programs.
COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION The focus of community transformation is to bring about sustainable change that goes beyond meeting an immediate need or providing encouragement for those who may come to an event or program. Community transformation projects are specifically catered to a certain geographical area and designed to discover critical areas of need. From there, we implement specific activities and programs that are designed to create a relevant application of positive change to combat the concerns and identified needs of the community.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH We work alongside local churches to encourage and equip them to help meet the needs of their communities. Efforts include water filtration, free medical clinics, sports and children’s activities, after-school programs, men's and women’s conferences, parent training, etc.
MICRO-LENDING Our Micro-Lending Program provides both training and financial capital for individuals and families to start-up self-sustaining businesses to help them break the cycle of poverty.
HIGHER EDUCATION Through our Higher Education Sponsorship Program, impoverished youth are given the opportunity to earn professional degrees from a university while being developed and discipled.
CAREER INSTITUTE Our 15-month Career Institute serves impoverished students desiring a career path of English as a Second Language, Executive Secretary, Bookkeeping, or Computer Technician. In addition to career-specific classes, students receive leadership and character development, discipleship and spiritual care.
STUDENT HOUSING For students in our Higher Education Program who live in abusive or unhealthy living conditions, our Student Housing provides a safe, clean, and healthy environment where they can live completely free of charge while focusing on their studies and growing spiritually.
PUBLIC SCHOOL PROGRAMS Through our Habitudes Program, we have the privilege of partnering with the public school system to address the issue of declining character and moral behavior of teens. We are active in 13 public high schools, 191 classrooms, and discipling over 4,800 students through our facilitators each week. Additionally, we conduct 2 sessions every week to over 60 inmates at the Juvenile Detention Center as well as an annual meeting to over 1,500 university students. Our Habitudes program teaches character, leadership, and Biblical values and has produced incredible success in the students.
LEADERSHIP ACADEMY Each year, we select approximately 60 hard-working students from local high schools with a high GPA but who come from severe poverty and difficult situations. These students go through our 10-month Leadership Academy program that focuses on character and leadership development from a Biblical perspective.
COUNSELING & PASTORAL CARE Those we serve in impoverished communities are often in very difficult situations of poverty, abuse or neglect, and strenuous family dynamics. Our psychologists, counselors and pastors provide care to meet the psycho-social needs of both students and families. This is another key piece to holistic ministry.
PASTOR TRAINING We help develop pastors and church leaders through the teaching of the Word and discipleship for serving their communities.
SHORT-TERM IMPACT TRIPS We offer meaningful, short-term mission trip opportunities for churches, groups and families to work alongside our ministry to bring sustainable transformation in the communities we serve.
